GSU reminds residents to "Call Before You Dig"

(Sudbury,ON)- As the ground thaws and warm weather arrives, Greater Sudbury Hydro reminds you that there are risks associated with all outdoor activities. If you plan on doing any landscaping, building, even expanding a deck, fence, or garden, please work safely. Wear proper safety equipment for the job, and be sure to call for locates before you dig! ON1Call is a free service available to all Ontarians to ensure you’re digging safely and avoiding any damage to or injury from buried infrastructure, including electricity, gas, telecommunications, water and sewer lines. All homeowners, contractors and infrastructure owners are responsible for following the necessary steps before digging.
It’s easy: One week before you dig, contact ON1Call for a free locate. Either call 1-800-400-2255 or request your locate online, on1call.com. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And once you get the locate information, it is crucial that you respect the locate marks.
For safety’s sake, do it for yourself, your family and your community.
