Charged former CRA employee linked to biker club release on $2,000 bail

 

 

Updated - April 25th, 2016 8:15pm: The Sudbury man accused of several offences related to his employment at the Canada Revenue Agency and providing information to his biker gang was released on $2,000 bail this morning.

Christopher Casola faces 11 charges including; breach of trust, unauthorized use of a computer, Committing a Criminal Offence for the Benefit of/in Association with a Criminal Organization (x2), Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Careless Storage of a Firearm, Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition.

Police allege that Casola is a member of the Bacchus biker club.

 

The conditions of his bail include being forbidden from having weapons or having any contact with members of the Bacchus, Outlaw, Hells Angels clubs or anybody involved in the case.

 

His next court appearance is May 18th, 2016

Original: The Greater Sudbury Police conducted a complex criminal investigation into the activities of a former employee of the Canada Revenue Agency.

As a result of this investigation, the 45-year old man has been charged with offences related to: 
-Breach of Trust
-Unauthorized Use of Computer
-Committing a Criminal Offence for the Benefit of/in Association with a Criminal Organization (x2)
-Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
-Careless Storage of a Firearm
-Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition

These charges are the result of a 16-month long investigation by the Greater Sudbury Police - Criminal Investigations Division into the activities of the Sudbury man who was a member of the Bacchus Motorcycle Club.

Confidential Canada Revenue Agency records of local Sudbury residents were unlawfully accessed between November and December in 2014. The local residents whose information was accessed are being notified
