MNRF tranquilize and relocate New Sudbury bear.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service was called to Lasalle Boulevard and Lansing Avenue in the New Sudbury area for a complaint of two bears in a housing complex.
Upon arrival officers located one bear that was in a tree and the other bear had left the immediate area.  The bear did not exit the tree and due to the amount of pedestrian traffic, mostly young persons, officers stood by for the Ministry of Natural Resources.
The Ministry of Natural Resources attended the scene and the treed bear was humanely tranquilized and transplanted to another location.
The bears appeared to have been attracted to the area by garbage placed outside at the rear of the complex.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Ministry of Natural Resources would like to thank area residents for the patience and co-operation during this matter
