Updated: Vale, KGHM and Ministry of Labour seek source of smoke odour

(SUDBURY, ON) The ministry of Labour says it was advised of a work stoppage at Vale's Coleman Mine late in the evening on August 31st, 2016 due the lingering presence of the smell of smoke underground.

Ministry of Labour officials have been dispatched to investigate.

Vale officials has confirmed with us that there is a work stoppage at Coleman Mine due to an issue related to a smoke odour underground. They say that Mine rescue was dispatched to investigate and determined there is no fire underground, and that the source of the odor seems to be coming from the neighbouring Levack Mine.
Vale says it's currently working through this issue with it's employees, KGHM and the MOL.
