Faulty underground cable blamed for south end power outage.

A faulty underground cable is being blamed for an outage that caused approximately 8700 Sudbury Hydro customers to be without power on September 12th, 2016.

Customers lost power around 3:00pm and the utility was able to re-route to the majority of customers with minutes while approximately 1800 customers were without power for around an hour. The remaining 20 customers were restored around 4:30pm.

Power was rerouted to all 8700 customers through temporary paths while crews work on repairing the cable which triggered the outage.  Once that repair is complete, service will revert to normal delivery configuration.
