In June of 2016, a chat website based in the United States reported to the Greater Sudbury Police Service Cyber Crime Unit that a Greater Sudbury resident had uploaded Child Pornography onto the website.
After a lengthy investigation, a search warrant was executed at a Greater Sudbury residence on November 30, 2016 where computers were seized by Officers.
A 40-year old male from Greater Sudbury was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Possession of Child Pornography (2 Counts) – Section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Access Child Pornography – Section 163.1(4.1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Distribution of Child Pornography (2 Counts) – Section 163.1(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada
The male will attend bail court on December 1, 2016 to answer to the charges.

Greater Sudbury citizens are encouraged to take action and report the online exploitation of children to cybertip.ca. If it is believed that the child or the offender is a resident of Greater Sudbury, citizens are encouraged to report these incidents directly to Greater Sudbury Police.
