Police responded to a reports of a person pointing a rifle at a passing vehicle while walking in the area of Ethelbert and Albert Street. in the West End this morning shortly after Midnight.
Greater Sudbury Police uniform officers located the adult male party carrying the long rifle. Police were able to de-escalate the situation, arresting the male party without incident. The 19 year old male will appear in bail court to answer to a number of weapons related criminal offences. No one was injured as a result of the incident and the males’ motive is still undetermined. The long rifle was confirmed to be a BB pellet rifle, a near identical replica of a common assault rifle.
Police want to thank the public who assisted directing officers to the scene which allowed a quick and safe conclusion to the situation.
