Fire causes $50K in damages to a Portage Avenue home #Sudbury

Greater Sudbury Fire Services responded to a residence on Portage Avenue shortly after 12:00pm on Saturday May 6th, 2017.

13 firefighters for 2 stations responded to the blaze located in a second bedroom of the home.

Three people were evacuated as a result of the fire and four people have been displaced. There were no injuries.

Damage is described as moderate and estimated at $50,000. The cause is unknown.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services remind residents that every home in Ontario must have a working smoke alarm on every storey and outside all sleeping areas. Test your smoke alarms once a month and replace the batteries every year. Smoke alarms can increase your chances of surviving a fire by up to 50%
