Updated: On Monday, September 4, 2017 around 10:30 p.m., Greater Sudbury Police responded to a collision on Paris Street near the Birchglen Apartments involving a cyclist. The motor vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene before Police arrival, however the driver returned a short time later. 
The 85-year old cyclist from Greater Sudbury was transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services. The man unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.  
The 25-year old man from Greater Sudbury who was driving the motor vehicle has been charged with Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Involving Death and Dangerous Driving Causing Death. 
Greater Sudbury Police will not be providing the identity of the cyclist out of respect for the family. We send our condolences to the family and friends of those affected by this tragic event.  
Police are seeking witnesses and urge anyone who may have information to contact the Greater Sudbury Police Service’s Traffic Management Unit at 705-675-9171 extension 2417.

Greater Sudbury Police are on the scene collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle on Paris Street at Indian Rd. Paris street is currently closed to southbound traffic beyond Walford Road.

The cyclist has been transported to Heath Science North with unknown injuries.

The vehicle involved fled south on Paris. No description was provided.

Motorist are asked to avoid the area at this time.
