Notice to Falconbridge Residents of SO3 Alarm Testing

Glencore's Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations(Sudbury INO) would like to advise Falconbridge residents that they will be performing a series of SO3 alarm maintenance tests at their Smelter. This maintenance will be in addition to the current weekly SO3 alarm testing, which usually occurs every Friday afternoon at 1:30pm.

WHEN: The maintenance testing will occur from the period of November 30 to December 18, 2017 inclusive. The alarm may sound between 1:00pm and 3:00pm.

HOW: During the maintenance testing period, the alarm will be brief and possibly several in a row.

WHAT ACTION SHOULD A RESIDENT TAKE: No additional action is requested during the alarm testing.

HOW WILL A RESIDENT KNOW IF THE ALARM IS REAL DURING THIS PERIOD: The test alarms will be short in duration, but my be in succession. If you hear the alarm sound continuously for perion longer than 5 minutes in length, the alarm is real and measures to shelter-in-place must be taken.

The maintenance is required to ensure Glencore can continue to provide the highest protection to the community in the event that an SO3 emergency occurs. Should you have any question or require additional information, please contact the Smelter Central Control Room at 705.693.2761 extension 3710.
