The better Better Business Bureau (Central Ontario) website provides a long list of complaints related to high pressure sales and rude sales people. Also provides a link to CRTC investigation and decision related to several telemarketing violations dating back several years. This company seems to have a history of bad behaviour. Original May 26th, 2015 - There are reports OEG (Ontario Energy Group) is back is town using high pressure sales tactics to solicit furnace and air conditioning rental contracts.
This is a same company that prompted complaints to Greater Sudbury Police and the City of Greater Sudbury early this year after they allegedly misrepresented themselves as working for the city and advising people that they were required to let them enter their home or face repercussions.
They also appear to be targeting and taking advantage of seniors and the elderly by making claims of government programs that are trying to keep them in their homes.
Citizens are reminded that if you feel pressured during any door to door solicitation, your are completely within your rights to ask the salesperson to leave.
All door to door sales require a city issued license and ID tag. OEG does not have a city license.
Police are investigating.
