Louis Street Apartment Fire

Seventeen firefighters from 3 stations responded to an apartment fire on the fifth floor of 166 Louis Street this afternoon just before 4:00pm. Upon arrival firefighters found one person in need of medical assistance for smoke inhalation.

The fire appears to have been deliberately set. Greater Sudbury Police and the Ontario Fire Marshall was contacted.

Damage was limited to one apartment displacing 2 people. Damage is estimated around $3000.00 and described as moderate with severe smoke damage.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services would like to reminder everyone that every home in Ontario must have a working smoke alarm on every storey and outside all sleeping areas. Test your smoke alarms once a month and replace the batteries every year. Smoke alarms can increase your chances of surviving a fire by up to 50%.
