Impaired Driver in Fail to Remain at the Scene

(SUDBURY, ON) On Saturday October 18th at 5:30 a.m, a 20 year old Owen Sound man struck a car on Second Ave at the Kingsway, Sudbury then drove off. The other driver followed the accused as he was driving in a very erratic manner away from the scene. He was observed weaving from side to side, pulling into various lots, driving though stop signs and finally drove straight at the other driver.

Police had been called and arrived in time to observe the suspect vehicle pull into a driveway on Gary St. They arrested the driver in his vehicle with an open case of beer in the car.

The driver was arrested for failing to stop at the scene of an accident; dangerous driving; impaired driving; drive with liquor readily available (under the Liquor License Act); and, through further investigation, blow over .08 and young driver BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) above zero (under the Highway Traffic Act).

He will be held in custody pending a bail hearing.

There is further damage to the suspect vehicle that is not consistent with the original collision police were called for. It is believed this vehicle may have been involved in other collisions in and around the same time. Police are asking for the public’s assistance if their vehicle was involved in a hit and run accident overnight in the areas of Second Ave and New Sudbury to call it in to police.
