Greater Sudbury Police vs Lively Secondary School - Basketball Challenge

The Sudbury Police Basketball Team was challenged by Lively District Secondary School`s Jr. Boys Basketball team to a fundraising game on January 8th, 2015.

Mr. Mike Asunmaa, coach of the Lively team, was thrilled to see the response by the students who chose to pay a small fee to attend and watch the game. ``More than half of the students came to watch, filling the stands,`` stated Mr. Asunmaa. ``The players had fun and particularly enjoyed seeing a different side of police officers. This type of event definitely helps develop community partnerships between students and the police.``

The money raised in this event will help the Jr. Boys` team with expenses this year.

S/Sgt. Al Asunmaa, a member of the Sudbury Police Basketball Team, has always enjoyed putting together a team and taking on these challenges; he`s been involved since the team`s inception in 1989. ``We always enjoy playing against teams from local high schools and see the benefits of the interaction between us and the teens``, adds S/Sgt. Asunmaa.
