26 YEAR OLD CHARGED IN SUSPICOUS DEATH

June 17th, 2015 10:00pm - On the 12th of June 2015 at approximately 4 p.m., members of Emergency Medical Services responded to an address on Beech Street in regards to a male person who was non responsive. Upon arrival, they were able to confirm that Gary Triff (60 yrs.) was deceased.

In conjunction with the Coroner’s Officer, members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service`s Criminal Investigations Unit and the Forensic Unit commenced an investigation into the death of Mr. Triff.

On the 13th of June 2015, while the investigation was in its initial phase, a 26-year-old City of Greater Sudbury man turned himself in to police. He was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm as a result of an altercation that he had with Mr. Triff on the 11th of June 2015. The accused was also charged with Assault involving a second victim during the same incident.

On the 15th of June 2015, a post-mortem examination was conducted on Mr. Triff and based on this examination, it was determined that the victim died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the assault by the accused.

Based on this new information, Edward Harvey Boucher (26 yrs. – CGS) is now charged with Second Degree Murder.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is currently investigating a suspicious death in the Beech Street area of the city. Friday afternoon Police and EMS responded to a residence and located a deceased male.

June 14th, 2015 9:00am - The Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Identification Unit are currently investigating the incident and have a male in custody. The male was arrested for Assault and Assault Causing Bodily Harm; further charges are pending.

A post mortem is scheduled for Monday June 15, 2015.

At this time the police indicate there are no safety concerns for members of the public.
