Updated: Allegation of Forcible Containment False

Update - July 27th, 2015: As a result of continued investigation police have been able to determine that the allegation of forcible containment resulting from the incident on St-Charles Street on Tuesday July 21, 2015 is false. As such one male has been charged with Public Mischief in relation to this matter.

This male, as well as the four other persons arrested have all been charged with numerous criminal offences in relation to the incident from Wednesday July 22, 2015 on Moonlight Avenue. Charges include;

 Weapon: possession for dangerous purpose;

 Weapon: possession contrary to prohibition order;

 Administer noxious substance;

 Aggravated Assault;

 Robbery;

 Conspiracy to commit indictable offence;

 Breach Probation.

Police would like to remind members of the community that this was not a random act and that all parties involved are known to each other.

The investigation continues and anyone with pertinent information is asked to contact police.

Original - At 9:00 am on Tuesday July 21st, a 22 year old Sudbury man was forcibly confined in a residence on St Charles St., Sudbury by 3 men and a woman.

At 5:30 am on Wednesday July 22nd, the victim who was still being held by two of the males managed to escape without injury and call police. Those two males who are in their 20’s were arrested by police at that time.

Through police inquires, it was learned that this same group of suspects had also approached a 30 year old man who was known to them on Moonlight Ave within this time period. That victim was assaulted with bear spray and an edge weapon but was also able to escape. The victim attended HSN seeking medical attention and did not contact police right away.

Through further investigation, this second victim was located by police with non-life threatening injuries. The two outstanding suspects who are also in their 20’s were located and arrested this afternoon.

The victims and accused persons are all known to each other. All involved parties have been arrested by police and there is no concern for public safety. These are not random events.

All accused persons have been held for bail facing numerous criminal charges.

These investigations are ongoing.
