The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) would like to advise the public of possible traffic disruptions today, early afternoon, in the Elm Street at Paris Street (intersection) area of Greater Sudbury.
Later today, members from the “Save the Benny Forest” are planning an information rally commencing in the parking lot of 233 Elgin Street located at the corner of Elgin Street at Minto Street.
The expected route for this rally will mainly remain within the Downtown core, stopping at the corner of Elm Street at Paris Street. At that location, rally members will distribute pamphlets to the public and hold a ceremonial drumming.
Following the ceremony, the rally will continue south on Paris Street to Brady Street returning back to 233 Elgin Street. The event will begin at 12:00 pm and is expected to continue until 2:00 pm. The Greater Sudbury Police Service respects everyone’s right of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
The role of the GSPS is to ensure public safety and to keep the peace. Activities may interrupt the normal flow of traffic. Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service will be present, working with organizers to ensure the safe and orderly movement of traffic. There may be traffic delays, the public is being encouraged to be patient when traveling in the downtown core this afternoon and be respectful to all pedestrians. Motorists may want to consider alternate routes when navigating through the Elm Street at Paris Street intersection this afternoon.
