Greater Sudbury Police Participate in Operation Northern Spotlight - Phase 4

As part of Our Shared Commitment to Community Safety and Law Enforcement, the Greater Sudbury Police Service participated in the most recent phase of OPERATION NORTHERN SPOTLIGHT, which occurred from October 7th to 9th, 2015.

During our participation in this North American initiative, members of the Break Enter and Robbery Unit (BEAR) and our Criminal Investigations Division (CID), conducted pre-arranged meetings with people suspected of participating in the sex trade, potentially against their will, while within the City of Greater Sudbury.

During this 3 day period our members were able to identify female sex trade workers who were working in Sudbury. All of the women we spoke to advised that they were partaking in the sex trade of their own free will, and correspondingly no charges have been laid in Sudbury during this 4th phase of the initiative.

The female sex trade workers who were interviewed were offered information and community-based support agencies by our investigating officers.
