21 year old Sudbury man charge with stunt driving near Burwash

(SUDBURY, ON) On May 21, 2016, members from the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting stationary radar enforcement on Highway 69 in Burwash Township, south of the City of Greater Sudbury.

At approximately 11:27 a.m., a southbound vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed and as a result was stopped for “Stunt Driving”.
The driver, Roland TREPANIER, 21 years of age, from Sudbury, was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on July 18, 2016.
Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, in addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended.
