Updated: Further repairs on Burton Avenue may cause low water pressure

Updated - November 13th, 2015 10:50am: The City will be conducting further repairs on the Burton Avenue watermain on Friday, November 13 from noon to 8 p.m. Residents in the area may notice some possible water discolouration and lower than normal water pressures.

To clear discoloured water, residents are asked to run the cold water tap that is closest to their water meter for several minutes to clear sediments from house hold plumbing. A prolonged period of discoloured water and / or low water pressure should be reported to the City of Greater Sudbury by dialing 3-1-1.

November 10th, 2015 9:00am - A water main break has occurred on Burton Avenue in Sudbury. To repair the main, the valve will need to be turned off; however, as the main does not loop in that area, but instead continues to other streets, this will result in no water for the following streets in addition to Burton which include; Humber, Hearne, Cabot, Selkirk, Rio, Secord and Nicolet.

The CTV building on Frood Road will also be affected.

It is expected that the main will be repaired by this afternoon. There are four municipal filling stations from which residents may draw municipally treated water free of charge:
Bay Street in Whitefish,
Countryside Drive in Sudbury, near the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex, Bancroft Drive in Sudbury, near Moonlight Beach Road, and Spruce Street in Garson.
Once water is restored, residents are asked to run their faucet to clear the sediment that may have gathered while the main was offline. Incidents of discoloured water once water has been restored should be reported to 3-1-1.

The City thanks residents for their patience while crews work to restore water.
