Sudbury man charged with impaired driving

(SUDBURY, ON)- On May 29, 2016, members of the Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) established a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) initiative on Highway 17 in the City of Greater Sudbury.
At approximately 12:27 am, officers had occasion to check a vehicle occupied by a male who stopped at the R.I.D.E. program. Investigation revealed that the driver had been drinking.
The driver, Brent CECCHETTO, 46 years of age from Sudbury, was arrested and charged with:
1. Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol), contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
2. Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
The accused driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven (7) days.
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury, on June 15, 2016, to answer to his charges.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
