On Saturday, July 16, 2016 at approximately 4:00 p.m., a Traffic Management Unit Officer observed a speeding car on Valley View Road in Val Caron. The Officer determined the vehicle to be traveling at 92 km/h in a posted 40 km/h zone.
The 19-year old male driver was stopped and was charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with Speeding, Stunt Driving and Driving with an Improper Muffler. His driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days and his vehicle impounded for the same period of time.
In two other Road Safety traffic stops that took place on Elm Street (near Ethelbert Street) in Sudbury, a Traffic Management Unit Officer charged two separate drivers for Driving While Under Suspension. The initial traffic stops were for Speeding (79 km/h and the other 81 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone). The driver traveling at 79 km/h received additional charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle with No Insurance and using Plates Not Authorized for the vehicle.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service would like to remind the motorists that Road Safety is an essential element to overall Community Safety and Well-Being. Citizens are urged to drive within the posted speed limits at all times and to reduce speed when the road or weather conditions are less than ideal.
