Updated: No foul play suspected in discovery of body located across from College Boreal

Updated - September 1st, 2016 2:50pm: No foul play is suspected. This is a Coroner’s investigation. The Criminal Investigations Division will continue to assist the Coroner’s Office with this case.
The area along the Lasalle extension that was taped off has been released by Greater Sudbury Police. There is no concern for public safety.
The deceased female’s next of kin has been notified and out of respect for the family, her name will not be released.

Updated - August 31st, 2016 10:45pm: On the 31st of August 2016, at 6:30 p.m. the Greater Sudbury Police Service’s Uniform Division responded to an unknown trouble call on the LaSalle extension in a bush area across from College Boreal.

At that time they met with a male cyclist who advised police that he was cycling in the bush across from the College when he saw what he believed to be a dead body.  Police attended the area and located a deceased female. 

 

The Criminal Investigations Division is assisting the Coroners office with this investigation.  There is no danger to the public.  The scene is currently cordoned off and uniformed officers are present. 

 

Police are requesting that citizen’s stay away from the bush area across the road from College Boreal extending East toward Kent Court.
