Winter storm warning remains in effect for: Greater Sudbury and vicinity
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
March comes in like a white lion, as a winter storm affects the region.
A strong Colorado low will move across Southern Ontario today. Strong northerly winds have set in with much colder Arctic air creating a wintery day across portions of Northeastern Ontario. Snow, at times heavy, will continue throughout the afternoon into the evening before beginning to taper off later tonight.
Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected by Thursday morning, with locally higher amounts to 30 cm possible in one or two locales.
Strong northerly winds gusting up to 60 or 70 km/h is also whipping up the freshly fallen snow resulting in frequent blowing snow in exposed areas.
Hazardous winter driving conditions are expected, and travel is not recommended. Travel plans should be adjusted appropriately.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
