Greater Sudbury Police - Impaired Related Incidents

In an effort to decrease the instance of impaired driving within the city, Greater Sudbury Police have starting release the names of those charged Impaired Driving Offences.

Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs is never the right choice

On Thursday, February 13, 2014 at approximately 7:40 p.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Dennie St., Capreol. The male driver of the grey GMC Sierra pick up was located and found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over one and half times the legal limit.

Lee Leduc (26yrs) was charged with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Fail to Remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Leduc was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in February.

On Saturday, February 15, 2014 at approximately 10:12 p.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service observed a red 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer travelling at an excessive high rate of speed in the area of Highway 144, Sudbury. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the female driver was found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over one and half times the legal limit.

Stephanie Allan (22yrs) was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, Driving with More than 80 mgs. of alcohol in Blood and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Allan was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in February.

On Monday, February 17, 2014 at approximately 00:45 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Park St., Copper Cliff. The female driver of the grey 2011 Chevrolet Cruze was located and found to have been drinking. The driver failed to provide a breath sample. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters.

Brittany Deshevy (27yrs) was charged with Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample alcohol/blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada as well as other criminal and provincial offences. She was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Deshevy was held in custody to attend Bail Court.

On Friday, February 21, 2014 at approximately 05:23 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Leslie St., Sudbury. The male driver of the grey 1999 GMC Sierra pick up was located and found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over two and a half times the legal limit.

Remington Huneault (29yrs) was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired and Driving with More than 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Fail to Remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Huneault was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in February.

On Sunday, February 23, 2014 at approximately 00:30 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Main St., Lively. The male driver of the white 2009 Dodge Journey was located and found to have been drinking. The driver refused to provide a breath sample. He was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters.

Serge Ouellette (59yrs) was charged with Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample Alcohol/Blood and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Fail to Remain contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Ouellette was held in custody to attend Bail Court the following day.

On Sunday, February 23, 2014 at approximately 05:10 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service observed a grey Pontiac Sun fire in the area of Leslie St., Sudbury with an expired vehicle validation. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the male driver was found to have been drinking. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over three times the legal limit.

James Cardey (23yrs) was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired and Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Cardey was held in custody to attend Bail Court that morning.

On Thursday, February 27, 2014 at approximately 1:27 p.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a possible suspended driver in the area of Paris St., Sudbury. A vehicle stop was conducted and the male driver of the grey 2005 Ford Freestar was found to have been drinking. The roadside resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over three and half times the legal limit.

Daryl King (52yrs) was charged with Care or Control over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. King was released from custody and was compelled to attend court in March.
