Drinking water advisory in effect for parts of South End #Sudbury

The Sudbury and District Health Unit has issued a drinking water advisory for a South End neighbourhood which includes parts of Corsi Hill and roads connected to it, including Palladium Place, Sapphire Court, Topaz Court, Platinum Place and Diamond Street due to a broken water main.

City crews are currently repairing the break but the city has advised that the water advisory will likely remain in place for the weekend as the water must be tested prior to lifting the advisory.

We are unable to provide specifics of the advisory as the Health Unit's website and phones have been down since early this morning, however, during a drinking water those affected should avoid using the water source for:

  • Drinking, or making juice, infant formula or ice;
  • Cooking, washing and cooking fruit and vegetables;
  • Brushing teeth; or
  • Bathing young children.

Boiling the water may not make it safe for drinking, the health unit advises. Until further notice, bottled water should be used. The water is safe for laundry.
