On the 14th of March 2014, at approximately 10:30, a 52-year-old
City of Sudbury man attended the drive-thru of a local coffee shop to obtain a
coffee.
While proceeding through the drive thru lane, the 52-year-old man’s vehicle
bumped into another vehicle. Witnesses spoke to this male and observed the odour
of an alcoholic beverage coming from this person.
The witnesses observed police in the area who were investigating an unrelated
matter, and advised them of their concerns regarding the driver.
As a result of receiving this information, officers were able to locate this
person and investigate the allegation that he may be impaired.
Their investigation determined that the man was in fact under the influence
of alcohol while operating his motor vehicle. He was apprehended and Intoxilyzer
results did in fact confirm that the male had a blood alcohol level that was
over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
This 52 year old, City of Greater Sudbury male has been charged with:
1) Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle – Contrary to
253(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada
2) Operation of a Motor Vehicle with over 80 milligrams of
Alcohol – Contrary to 253(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada
He will be appearing in court on the 26th of March 2014, to answer
to these charges.
