Suspect arrest made in connection with shooting at Local Bar

(SUDBURY ON) Greater Police Service said in a release this afternoon that the 16-year-old individual believed to be responsible for a fatal shooting that took place at Overtime Sports Bar in Greater Sudbury on April 21, 2023 was arrested by the Toronto Police Service early this morning.

The youth has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;
• Murder
• Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
• Carrying concealed weapon
• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
• Possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number
The youth appeared in court in Toronto today to answer to the charges and has since been remanded into custody.
GSPS will not provide further particulars relating to the youth's identity
Officers were dispatched to Overtime Sports Bar on Notre Dame Avenue at approximately 10:20 on April 21, 2023 in relation to a weapons complaint. Information provided was that multiple men were involved in a verbal altercation leading to one of the men shooting another man with a gun.
A 22-year-old man sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries in hospital and was pronounced deceased by medical professionals.
The suspect had fled the area prior to police arrival.
