GSPS: Impaired Related Incidents - June 18 2014

The Greater Sudbury Police Service continues to address Impaired Driving reminding members of our community to always arrange for safe alternative transportation.

* * * * *

On Saturday, May 17, 2014 at approximately 00:32 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service observed an erratic driver in the area of Paris St., Sudbury. The 2007 grey Toyota Yaris was subsequently stopped and the male driver was found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that he drier was over the legal limit.

Tyler Weatherbee (21yrs) was charged with Driving with more than 80mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Weatherbee was held in custody to attend Bail Court that morning.

Northern Internet Solution

On Saturday, May 17, 2014 at approximately 09:45 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a possible impaired driver in the area of Humber Crt., Sudbury. The 1996 red Chevrolet MLS was located and the female driver was found to have been drinking. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit.

Adrianne Anwhatin (23yrs) was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, Care or Control Over 80mgs and other Criminal Code of Canada offences. She was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Anwhatin was released and was compelled to attend court in May.

On Sunday, June 8, 2014 at approximately 03:23 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a possible impaired driver in the area of Grenoble Dr., Sudbury. The 2008 yellow Jeep Wrangler was located and the male driver was found to have been drinking. The roadside tests resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit.

Marcus Britt (19yrs) was charged with Care or Control While Impaired and Care or Control Over 80 mgs. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Britt was held in custody to appear in Bail Court that morning.

On Sunday, June 8, 2014 at approximately 08:21 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act offence in the area of Morin St., Sudbury. The male driver of the 1991 blue Chevrolet pickup truck was found to have been drinking. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The driver failed to provide a suitable breath sample.

John Brindle (57yrs) was charged with Care or Control While Impaired, Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample alcohol/blood and other Criminal Code of Canada offences.  He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 45 days. Brindle was held in custody to attend Bail Court that morning.

On Sunday, June 8, 2014 at approximately 06:22 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of O’Neil Dr., Garson. The 2001 grey Nissan Maxima was located and the male driver was found to have been drinking. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over twice the legal limit.

Shawn Breton (21yrs) was charged with Care or Control While Impaired, Care or Control Over 80mgs. and other Criminal Code of Canada offences. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Breton was held in custody to attend Bail Court that morning.

On Thursday, June 12, 2014 at approximately 00:01 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service observed a 2005 grey Toyota UCS travelling the wrong way on Durham St., Sudbury. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the male driver was found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit.

Devin Purvis (25yrs) was charged with Driving with more than 80mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Purvis was released from custody and is compelled to attend court on June 25, 2014.

On Saturday, June 14, 2014 at approximately 01:21 a.m. members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to an alleged impaired driver in the area of Elm St., Sudbury. The 2004 grey Mazda 3 was located and the male driver was found to have been drinking. The roadside test resulted in a Fail. The driver was taken into custody at the scene and escorted to police headquarters. The results of the breath tests indicated that he driver was over the legal limit.

Oumar Sidibe (23yrs) was charged with Driving with more than 80mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and other Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences. He was issued a 90 day ADLS suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Sidibe was held to attend Bail Court that morning.
