GSPS: Hunting Group Reported Missing Overnight - Located

On Sunday, November 02, 2014 at approximately 0344hrs, police responded to a missing person report regarding a group of 3 hunters that failed to return home at their expected time. The group was hunting in the Worthington area and was expected home the previous evening.

One of the individuals was able to get cell phone service and called 911 at approximately 0648hrs. Their vehicle had got stuck in the mud. They spent the night in their vehicle. They had no extra equipment or supplies with them.

Police attended and all 3 parties were located and confirmed that no medical attention was required.

Greater Sudbury Police Service would like to remind individuals during the hunting season to consider the following safety tips;

• Know the area

• Let someone know your trip plan

• Monitor the weather and wear/bring appropriate clothing

• Carry a fully charged cell phone

• Bring extra food and water supplies

• Carry a first aid kit
