Martindale Road - Theft from vehicles

On the 13th of January 2015 at 8:47 pm a 24 year old male was observed attempting to gain entry into vehicles in and around 1065 Martindale road in the City of Sudbury. The male was scared off by a witness and was subsequently stopped a short time later and investigated by police a short distance away from the original location. The male was detained and found to have been drinking. He was in possession of a large quantity of loose change, Canadian currency, gas cards, and gift cards. The male was subsequently arrested for theft and possession of property obtained by crime. A further search resulted in the location of a prohibited flick knife which the male had in his pants pocket, the accused was further charge with possession of a prohibited weapon.

Citizens are reminded in situations such as this that it is prudent to not confront someone because you may be putting yourself in harm’s way. Criminals generally seek access to easy targets such as unlocked vehicles. One of the simplest ways to deter thefts from vehicles is to keep them locked.
