OPP advise that Highway 69S is closed 1 km South of Highway 526

Update - On Friday January 23, 2015 at approximately 7:47 p.m. a Dodge Durango was travelling southbound on Highway 69 in Henvey Township. The Dodge was pulling a trailer when it lost control and veered in front of a northbound freightliner truck. A southbound Mitsubishi Eclipse hit debris from the collision. Members from the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded and closed Highway 69 for several hours while the Technical Traffic Collision Investigators processed the scene. The Britt Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Ministry of Environment also assisted at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Durango, John PORTELANCE, 22 years of age from Sudbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger sustained minor injuries.

The driver and passenger of the freightliner truck were transported to hospital and released with minor injuries.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was not injured.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. More information will be provided once it becomes available.
