Downtown streets re-opened following initial investigation into fatal collision

Updated - October 1st, 2015 9:30am: Downtown road closures as a result of yesterday's fatal collision involving a 58 year female pedestrian have been opened follow an initial investigation by Greater Sudbury Police. The victim name has not been released

Updated - September 30th 3:20pm: Greater Sudbury Police have just confirmed that the pedestrian involved in the collision has succumbed to injuries at the scene.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is currently on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision and want to advise the public of the following road closures;

Beech St. at Frood Rd.

Northern Internet Solution

Ste. Anne Rd. at Elgin St.

Eglin St. at Elm St. and

Durham St. at Beech St.

Vehicles and all pedestrian traffic are urged to avoid the area. Drivers must access alternate routes until further notice.

We've been told by our sources that a pedestrian was struck and critically injured by a grader and may have succumbed to injuries at the scene, however, this is unconfirmed at this time.
