Updated - December 31sth, 2015 6:00pm: The deceased has now been identified as 82 year old Lorne JAWORSKI from Capreol. Autopsy results revealed that Mr. Jaworski drowned after his vehicle struck a tree on his property and the vehicle then went into the Wahnapitae Lake where the vehicle began to sink. Mr. Jaworski was able to climb out of one of the vehicle’s windows and attempted to swim in the freezing water but was unable to make it to shore.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service received a call at approximately 11:05am, to attend in the area of West Bay Road, in Capreol, where a vehicle had veered off the roadway going into Wahnapitae Lake.  As a result of the call, officers arrived on the scene and located an 82 year old male who had managed to get out of his vehicle and was found in the water.  Officers proceeded to rescue the male from the water, bringing him to shore and commenced CPR.   A short while later the male was air lifted to HSN, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.  At this time police are further investigating the incident and the name of the male is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
