Lack of helmets and alcohol use contribute to rising ORV death toll
ORILLIA, ON, May 12, 2014 - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reporting that off-road vehicle (ORV) deaths have reached a four-year high and the causal factors have the OPP concerned heading into the Victoria Day Long Weekend.

A dedication ceremony was held at Jean Hanson Public School today in honour of the former Director of Education for Rainbow District School Board. Trustees unanimously approved the renaming of Gatchell School in her memory at the regular Board meeting on April 29, 2014.

Update May 13th, 2014 - The woman airlifted to Toronto yesterday with third and forth degree burns has been identified as Diane Paquette. The condition of another woman who witnesses told us was administered CPR at the scene and transported to hospital is unknown at this time.
R.I.D.E. checks this weekend by Greater Sudbury Police produced two of impaired drivers resulting in 90 day license suspensions. One driver stopped during the R.I.D.E check registered a warning on the approved screening device and due to the fact it was this driver’s second time being caught in the warn range the driver had his license suspended for 7 days.
