Several CSCNO elementary schools participated in the Franco-Ontarian 2014 intermediate hockey tournament, which took place in Ottawa on 3 and 4 April. CSCNO schools have dominated the Division A. École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse) won gold, Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford), won the silver and Ste-Marie (Azilda) won the bronze.

Grade 7 and 8 Enriched Math students from Carl A. Nesbitt Public School won the University of Waterloo’s Grade 9 Pascal Math Contest for Zone 62, within Northern Ontario. Students study math at the Grade 9/10 level for 90 minutes a day.

This week, secondary school students from the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel Ontario are taking part in a learning activity that will allow them to discover Native traditions. The activity was offered at Collège Notre-Dame on April 1 and will be repeated at École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur on April 3.

SUDBURY – Cambrian College’s Graphic Design graduating class explores Greater Sudbury’s bittersweet parallels in a new exhibit that runs throughout April at the College’s Open Studio.
“The show revolves around questions, such as, ‘What keeps us going? What makes us who we are? What makes a Sudburian a Sudburian?’,” Gaëtan Godin, a student in the third-year class, says of the BitterSweet show. “The answer lies within the bittersweet relationship we have with our city.”

One of the potential, major complications linked to diabetes is the development of foot ulcers, which can lead to the amputation of one or both feet. The rate of lower extremity amputations among people with diabetes in Northern Ontario is higher than the provincial average.
But most amputations can be avoided by proper, preventative foot care.
This Friday in Sudbury, the Diabetes Care Service of Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord (HSN) and Diabetic Foot Canada are teaming up to host a workshop, the Prevention and Management of Diabetic Foot Complications.
