(SUDBURY, ON) – On September 3, 2014 at 7:20 a.m., officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle fatal motor vehicle collision involving a car and a tractor trailer on Highway 144 at Sideburn Lake, north of Onaping Lake Road.

Preliminary investigation reveals that a northbound vehicle crossed the centre line colliding with a southbound tractor trailer.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The driver of the southbound tractor trailer was not injured.

The highway is currently closed as OPP Technical Traffic Investigator Collision (TTCI) and Reconstructionist are investigating the collision.

There is no detour at the location of the collision.

The identity of the victim is being held pending notification of next of kin.
