The Sudbury & District Health Unit (SDHU) reports that a horse in the city of Greater Sudbury has tested positive for West Nile virus (WNv). This is the second reported horse to test positive in the Health Unit’s service area. The first local horse to test positive was reported in August 2004.

As a precaution, the Sudbury & District Health Unit is advising that those who take their drinking water directly from Minisinakwa Lake, or from wells supplied by the river, not use that water for drinking or cooking until further notice. Residents obtaining their water from the Gogama Water System are not affected.

Health Unit Offering Free Vaccinations to Anyone Affected
The Sudbury & District Health Unit is advising anyone who ate at Casey’s Bar & Grill located at 1070 Kingsway Boulevard in Sudbury, Ontario, between January 15, 2015 and January 20, 2015 to get a hepatitis A vaccination as soon as possible.
The Health Unit will be holding free hepatitis
