Fatal Collision on Highway 69 near Estaire

(SUDBURY, ON) – On October 30, 2016 at 6:09 p.m., officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) responded to a single vehicle fatal collision on Highway 69 in the township of Servos.
Investigation revealed that a southbound pickup truck pulling a boat and trailer left the roadway near the Nelson Road ramp and rolled down a steep rocky embankment coming to rest on its roof.
The driver of the pickup, Morgan TAYLOR, 56 years of age, from Barrie, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male passenger, 55 years of age, from Innisfil, had to be extricated from the vehicle with the assistance of the Estaire Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators.

Updated: OPP advised around 11:30pm that one southbound lane is now open on Highway 69 at Highway 537 following an earlier closure of all southbound lanes due to a motor vehicle collision.
