Traffic Disruption – Wednesday May 14th 2014 – National Day of Resistance

The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) would like to advise the public of upcoming traffic disruptions in the downtown area of Greater Sudbury.

Later today, a planned “National Day of Resistance” march will take place as part of a national wide day of action. Beginning at 12:20 p.m. participants will leave from Minto Street and travel south to Brady Street. From there, marchers will travel east on Brady Street in the eastbound lanes only and then north on Paris Street in the northbound lanes. Marchers will then proceed west on Elm Street in the westbound lanes. They will then travel south on Lisgar Street and east on Larch Street followed by southbound on Minto Street and conclude their march at approximately 1:30 p.m.

The GSPS respects the right of everyone to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. Activities may interrupt the normal flow of traffic. Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service will be present, working with organizers to ensure the safe and orderly movement of traffic and participants.

To assist in minimizing the impact to our citizens, anyone who plans on being in this area during the above time frame is encouraged to take an alternate route, if possible.
