Updated: Robbery at the Northern Credit Union in Capreol

Update - June 11th, 2014 - When the male suspect left the bank, he left a device behind. The nature of the device caused Police concern as the male had alleged he was in possession of an explosive device. The Greater Sudbury Police Service was assisted by members of the Explosives Disposal Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police. Members of the Greater Sudbury Fire Services were also on hand in the event they were required. Following a scan of the device used in the robbery, it was safely rendered inoperable in the parking lot of the Credit Union. Further analysis of the device will determine its true nature.

The attached photo shows the suspect entering the bank. As a result of speaking with witnesses, the suspect is described as male, Caucasian, between 6`2`` and 6`5``, heavy set (between 250 to 400 lbs.), with a deep voice. He was seen leaving the area in a small grey or beige vehicle. The suspect was overheard stating that he was committing the crime because he had recently lost his job.

The investigation continues and while some physical evidence has been recovered from the scene, Police Investigators will be making every effort to recover any additional evidence discarded by the subject.

As the male was observed leaving the scene and accessing a vehicle, Police do not believe that he is still in the area.

Original - June 12th, 2014 - At 4:30 pm on the 11th of June 2014, Greater Sudbury Police responded to a Robbery at the Northern Credit Union located at 10 Vaughn St, Capreol. A male stated he had a bomb strapped to his body and demanded money from the employees. The male then fled the store on foot after obtaining a quantity of currency. No explosive device was seen and no one was injured in the incident. The male is described as being 6’ tall, heavy set wearing a black hoody, black scarf, baseball hat and sunglasses. The incident is still under investigation.

This looks nothing like the descriptions that have been going around. They said he was wearing a black hoodie this looks like w white sweater to me.
