UPDATED  July 31st, 2014 - As a result of further investigation, a 45 year old male and 36 year old female were arrested in connection with the incident that occurred on Donovan Street during the early morning hours of the 30th of July. Officers learned that the male and female attended the address on Donovan Street at approximately 1:45 am with the intention of robbing the occupant. The 45 year old male confronted the 63 year old male resident with a knife. The resident retrieved a .22 caliber rifle from inside the apartment and chased the assailant back to a vehicle that was being driven by the 36 year old female. The pair then fled the area in the vehicle while being shot at by the older male.

At approximately 9:45 pm on the 30th of July, officers arrested the 45 year old male and 36 year old female without incident during traffic Stop on Notre Dame Avenue. The male is charged with Robbery with Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Breach of Probation while the female is charged with Robbery with a Weapon. They will appear in Bail Court on the 31st of July 2014.

During the course of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at the address on Donavan Street where the incident occurred. As well as additional .22 caliber rifle ammunition, officers seized 46 hydromorphone tables valued at $370 and 5 grams of marihuana valued at $50. The 63 year old occupant of the address faces charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Substance in additional to the weapons offences that he was arrested for at the time of the incident.

On Wednesday the 30th of July 2014, at 01:45 am, Greater Sudbury Police responded to a call of shots being fired in the area of Donovan Street, Sudbury. Witnesses observed a male party running down the street with a firearm.

As a result a 63 year old male has been initially arrested for numerous weapons related offences. No injuries have been reported to date and there is no concern for public safety.
