Update - August 22nd, 2014 5:45pm - At approximately 1040 hours on the 22nd of August, 2014 members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service were dispatched to a residence in Guilletville within the City of Greater Sudbury to assist the Sherriff’s Office in the execution of their duties. A male within the residence refused to cooperate and leave as directed.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service, after several hours of negotiations, resolved the incident peacefully and the male was taken into custody.
The Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating the incident.

Update - August 22nd, 2014 4:30pm - Greater Sudbury Police advise that the situation has come to a peaceful resolution. Municipal Road # 80 will be re-opened shortly.

Update - August 22nd, 2014 3:30pm GSO has UNCONFIRMED information learned through an unnamed source that the situation on highway 69N may be related to eviction this morning. We have been told that an individual has barricaded himself in the home with a quantity of gasoline and police are waiting for a crisis intervention team and tactical unit.

Update - August 22nd, 2014 2:53pm -The Greater Sudbury Police Service is currently conducting an investigation into a serious situation in the area of McCrea Heights on Municipal Road 80.
In light of our concern for public safety in this area, the Greater Sudbury Police are undertaking the following actions:
1) Municipal Road # 80 will be closed down in both directions in the area of McCrea Heights – Northbound and Southbound. People are requested to access alternatives as they will not be able to get through the area of where the investigation is being conducted.
2) People that reside in the area of McCrea Heights are asked to remain indoors until the investigation into this matter has concluded. If you live in this area and you have questions regarding safety you may call 705-675-9171 ext. 6254.
In the interest of the safety of our officers, the Greater Sudbury Police are also requesting that citizens in the area refrain from using Social Media to broadcast photos of the locations of where are officers are staging or deployed in the area.

Orginial Story - August 22nd, 2014 2:38pm - BREAKING NEWS - There is a heavy police presence in McRae Heights this hour with several police vehicles as well as EMS and Fire Services on-site. It's unclear what happening but by some accounts police had surrounded a home at gunpoint and appears now that they are in some type of holding pattern; waiting and watching.
