On November 1st 2014 at approximately 10:00 pm, a Cambrian College student was visiting a townhouse located at the Cambrian Residence on Barrydowne Road. While inside one of the townhouses, the student engaged in a heated verbal dispute with a male stranger who was visiting. A heated dispute took place involving the ownership and possible purchase of an iPhone belonging to a student. While in the townhouse, the dispute escalated into a physical altercation between the stranger and the students. Witnesses advised that the stranger does not live on campus and may have attended the area to acquire illicit drugs. The aggressor presented a knife and assaulted one male student. Following the assault, the suspect fled the area on foot and remains at large.
During the altercation, one 22 year old male suffered a cut left index finger, a cut to his right thumb and a cut to his left forearm. He was transported to hospital by paramedics with non-life threatening injuries for treatment and was released. A second 22 year old male visitor at the college residence suffered a small cut to left bicep. The suspect who was not injured during the incident is described as a white male with a French accent, 5'5"tall, stocky build weighing 175-185 pounds, black hair and facial hair.
This crime appears to be an isolated incident and there is no information to believe other students living on campus are at risk.
The matter remains under investigation.
