Update November 23rd, 2014 - On the 22nd of November 2014, at approximately 4:15 p.m. the Greater Sudbury Police were called to a serious motor vehicle collision between the 19 year old male driver of a Ford Explorer and the 68 year old driver of a Honda Prelude. Also present in the Prelude was the driver’s 47 year old daughter. Investigation revealed that the 19 year old was driving Northbound near McCrea Heights when the driver became distracted. His vehicle then veered into the oncoming lane and struck the Southbound Honda Prelude containing the two females. Both females had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Fire Department. They were taken to hospital and at this time the 68 year old driver is in serious but stable condition. Her daughter’s condition is serious but not life threatening.
Subsequent investigation resulted in the 19 year old suspect being arrested and charged with:
Impaired operation of a Motor vehicle by Drug
Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm X2
Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm X2
Novice Driver-Blood Alcohol Content above Zero
Young driver-Blood Alcohol Content above Zero
At this time the investigation is ongoing and being continued by the Greater Sudbury Police Traffic Management Unit. The Greater Sudbury Police Service is urging citizens not to use hand held devices or engage in any activity that distracts them from fully concentrating on driving in a safe and courteous manner.
Updated November 22nd 2014 10:00pm - Greater Sudbury Police advise that MR 80 in Guilletville is now open in both directions. Two females were injured in the collision and transported to hospital. Police remain on the scene and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Updated November 22nd 2014 9:00pm - Reports that traffic is being directed, one lane alternating directions. We're told that the scene may be considered traumatic ...to some as vehicles are still on the scene. Recommend an alternate route until police advise that the area has been cleared.

Serious accident on Mcrae Heights. The Greater Sudbury Police Service is presently on scene at a serious motor vehicle collision at 2000 municipal 80 in the area of McCrea Heights. Citizens are asked to not go near this area at this time as the road is shut down.
Reports are that three vehicles were involved, Black SUV sustained substantial front end damage, a red car, possibly a sunfire, both required the jaws of life to remove the occupants. The third vehicle is unknown at this time.
Two ambulances passed through the downtown moments ago with full police escort and intersections closed off.
