(Updated - 11:00 04/24/2015) On the 23rd of April 2015, police attended a residence in the City of Greater Sudbury to investigate a Family Disturbance. As a result of this initial investigation it was determined that the offences of Break and Enter, 2 Counts of Assault, and Mischief had been committed by a male party who was no longer present.
A person of interest was identified, and a possible address location of 241 Lloyd Street Sudbury Ontario was determined. Police attended that address to continue the investigation.
Upon the arrival of police, the 23 year old male that police were seeking to speak to barricaded himself within an apartment at that location.
As a result of the actions of the person of interest, police contained the apartment and secured the area.
Trained negotiators made contact with the 23 year old male, in the hopes that he would vacate the apartment peacefully.
At approximately 6:15 PM the accused exited the apartment and was safely taken into custody by police at 6:35 PM
As a result of these incidents, a 23 year old CGS male has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences, and will be appearing in Bail Court this morning to answer to these charges:

1 Count - Mischief
For the Barricaded Person Incident:
4 Counts - Assault with a Weapon
1 Count - Assault Peace Officer
2 Counts - Weapons Dangerous
2 Counts - Mischief 1 Count - Common Nuisance
2 Counts - Breach of Probation

(Updated - 19:10 04/23/2015) The Greater Sudbury Police Service can advise that the barricaded person incident has come to a peaceful conclusion.
The male person that police were attempting to apprehend is now in custody.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service would like to thank the members of the public and the media for their cooperation and assistance in this matter.
We would also like to thank our Emergency Services Partners (Ambulance and Fire Services) for their assistance.
The expertise and equipment provided by Greater Sudbury Fire Services Division was crucial in bringing this incident to a successful conclusion.

(Updated - 13:45 04/23/2015) The Greater Sudbury Police Service were called at 0840 hours in regards to a family disturbance. Information received led officers to 241 Lloyd Street to continue their investigation into this matter.
Upon Police arrival at 241 Lloyd Street a lone male barricaded himself inside an apartment.
Police are currently attempting to diffuse the situation and convince the individual to exit the apartment.
There is no risk to public safety.
Police are seeking cooperation from the media and the public, and are asking that people refrain from posting photos of the scene online, as it impacts our ability to do our job safely and puts the person of interest and our officers at risk.

(SUDBURY, ON - 11:15 04/23/2015) Police are currently on scene at 241 Lloyd Street in Sudbury conducting an investigation.
In the interests of public safety and to assist in the investigation, police are requesting that residents of the apartment building remain in their apartments until further notified.
Police are also requesting that visitors and occupants who wish to attend 241 Lloyd Street remain away until the investigation is concluded.
Drivers are also requested to remain away from the area, so that roadways do not become congested.
