Greater Sudbury Police Nab Impaired Driver

On Sunday March 30th shortly after 11 pm, police were advised of a possible impaired driver observed leaving the Hazel St area. A few minutes later, police observed the suspect vehicle on Lorne St. near Kelly Lake Road.

The vehicle was strategically followed by police to the intersection at Balsam St, Copper Cliff. At this point, police activated roof lights to pull the vehicle over at a red light.

The suspect driver accelerated through the red light. Police began a pursuit that travelled only a short distance at low speed from there to the overpass just west of Power St on Hwy 17W.

The vehicle pulled over and the driver, a 50 year old Sudbury woman, was arrested for impaired driving and flight from police. She will appear in court at a future date to face those and other charges of fail to stop for police and blowing over .08mg.
