Sudbury Police Investigating Homicide After Body Found in Truck on Lansdowne Street
(SUDBURY, ON) — Greater Sudbury Police are investigating a suspected homicide after a man was found dead in a parked truck on Lansdowne Street Sunday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to a residence shortly before 3:25 p.m. on April 6 after a report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle, a black 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, was located inside a garage with an unresponsive man inside.
Firefighters forced entry into the vehicle, and paramedics confirmed the man had died at the scene. Police believe the victim sustained a gunshot wound, although it remains unclear where the fatal injury occurred.
As of Monday morning, the man's identity has not been confirmed. A postmortem examination is scheduled for April 8 through the Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death and assist in identifying the deceased.
Officers searched the home associated with the address but found no one inside. Investigators are now working to establish a connection between the vehicle and the property.
Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Patrol Operations and Forensic Unit remain on scene, canvassing the neighborhood for information and surveillance footage.
Residents with video surveillance equipment in the area are asked to check their footage and report anything suspicious to police. Community members are also encouraged to register their cameras with the CAMSafe network at www.camsafe.ca.
