One Dead, One Injured in Lorne Street Domestic Violence Incident; Suspect at Large

SUDBURY — July 2, 2025 — A violent domestic incident in the early hours of Tuesday morning has left one woman dead, another seriously injured, and a suspect on the run.

Greater Sudbury Police responded to a call shortly after 12:35 a.m. about an intimate partner violence incident at a residence on Lorne Street. According to initial reports, a woman and her family member had been seriously injured during a confrontation involving the woman's partner.

Upon arrival, officers located a 32-year-old woman outside the residence suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedics.

Inside the home, officers discovered the body of a 63-year-old woman who had sustained multiple apparent stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children were also found inside the residence; they were unharmed.

Police believe the suspect fled the area before officers arrived. He is described as a 36-year-old Black man, approximately 5’7” tall, with short black hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing light-coloured shorts and a dark shirt. Investigators believe he may have sustained a leg injury during the altercation.

A search warrant has been issued for the residence, and members of the Greater Sudbury Police K9 Unit are conducting an evidentiary ground search in the surrounding area. Officers continue to canvass for information and video surveillance footage.
