Tanya Quesnel, a grade 12 student from Sudbury’s École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur, was presented with the Craig T. Noble award from ICAN (Independence Centre and Network) Sudbury. Tanya, who recently completed her secondary school studies, was born with cerebral palsy spastic diplegia and is a past ICAN youth services participant.

“Hey bonehead, wear a helmet!” That was the message delivered today at the Minnow Lake Outdoor Skate Park by the Brain Injury Association Sudbury and District (BIASD) and the Emergency Department at Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord (HSN).
Both organizations teamed up to promote BIASD’s “Helmet Awareness Campaign.”

On June 17, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) held its third public meeting at École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse). The purpose of this session was to inform its Hanmer and Val Thérèse school communities of the results of the feasibility study of École St-Joseph (Hanmer), École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse) and École Notre-Dame (Hanmer) as well as the evaluation of eleven school site options in Hanmer and Val Thérèse, which included the construction of a new school as well as the modernization of existing buildings

Kevin Gélinas, a grade 10 student at École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur in Sudbury was recently selected to take part in the prestigious Youth Ambassadors Program with Canada. Being selected is quite an accomplishment as only 18 youth participants between 15 and 18 years of age from all parts of Canada were retained for this three-week exchange program.
